Black Bean Burgers

This recipe took me a couple of tries to perfect but the end result was absolutely delicious.  It was so simple and quick to make!  My perfect meal.

You really can use whatever ingredients you’d like in this recipe, this is what I used:

  • 1/3 tin of black beans (drained)
  • tbsp whole wheat flour

Add:

  • tbsp finely chopped red onion
  • tbsp chopped red pepper
  • 1/2 tsp chopped jalapeno
  • S&P
  • tbsp BBQ sauce

Mash it altogether using a potato masher, if you don’t have one of these a fork will do:

Using your hands, mush it altogether to form a patty:

Preheat a tsp of extra virgin olive oil on a skillet and cook the burger for a few minutes each side.

When you’ve turned it over once, place some cheese on top.  I used jack cheddar which has a nice little kick to it but you can use whatever cheese you fancy…. how about some blue cheese, brie, mozzarella! YUM!

Serve on a toasted bun with some lettuce, tomatoes, avocado or pickles with a little ketchup on the side.
